May 16, 2005

NEW YORK, NY, May 16, 2005  --- The CSFB/Tremont Hedge Fund Index is down 1.04% for April 2005, according to Oliver Schupp, President of Credit Suisse First Boston Tremont Index LLC and senior member of the CSFB Hedge Fund Investments group.

"For the fourth month in a row, the Dedicated Short sub strategy reported the strongest return, up 20.80% year-to-date, as several sectors of the US economy suffered in April," said Mr. Schupp.  "Overall, it was a difficult month for hedge funds, with only two of the ten sectors of the universe reporting positive returns.  The continued liquidation of positions in convertibles resulted in a return of -3.13% for the Convertible Arbitrage sub strategy."

"The Emerging Markets sub strategy reported a positive return, up 0.28%, as emerging market bond investments benefited from rallying Treasury markets," said Robert I. Schulman, Chief Executive Officer of Tremont Capital Management, Inc.  "The Managed Futures sub strategy suffered due to losses from the sell-off in equities and energy markets and mixed performance in fixed income and currency markets."

Performance for the CSFB/Tremont Hedge Fund Index and its ten sub strategies is calculated monthly.  April, March and year-to-date 2005 returns for all categories are listed below and at www.hedgeindex.com
